Bird Stress Relief

Is your bird plucking feathers, screaming, or shutting down?

Bird stress shows up differently depending on the bird. Some birds turn inward, plucking, overgrooming, or withdrawing.

Others turn outward, biting, lunging, or reacting to flock tension.

Catherine Winfree | Animal Communicator & Flower Essence Practitioner

Every blend starts with a conversation. With your bird.

Catherine Winfree is an animal communicator and flower essence practitioner based in North Carolina. Before selecting a single essence, she tunes into your bird's specific emotional state, not their habitat, food, or species profile, but what they're actually feeling.

What she hears shapes every blend she makes. That's why no two Calm Animal Solutions orders are ever identical, and why bird parents often notice changes they weren't expecting.

Frequently Asked Questions about Pet Birds and Flower Essences

Which blend is right for my bird?

Start with your bird's biggest struggle.

Relaxed Bird is formulated for birds that are lonely, bored, or restless, including birds that pluck feathers, overgroom, or scream excessively without a clear conflict behind it.

Social Bird is formulated for birds whose primary issue is flock tension, aggression, or reactivity toward other birds or people, including feather plucking that started after a conflict or a new bird was introduced.

If both blends seem like a fit, choose the one that describes the problem you most want to solve first.
There's a good chance you'll see improvement in both areas.
Individual results vary.

My bird was rescued, rehomed, or came from a breeder. Which blend do I order?

Start with your bird's behavior rather than their history. Rescue, rehomed, and previously-owned birds can present differently depending on what they're carrying.

If your bird seems withdrawn, is adjusting to a new environment, or is plucking or overgrooming from stress, Relaxed Bird is the right place to start.

If your bird is aggressive, bites or lunges, or is struggling with tension around other birds or new people, Social Bird is the right place to start.

If both blends seem like a fit, choose the one that describes the problem you most want to solve first.
There's a good chance you'll see improvement in both areas.
Individual results vary.

My bird plucks feathers or overgrooms. Which blend do I order?

Feather plucking can come from more than one cause, so the right blend depends on what's behind it.

If the plucking is tied to loneliness, boredom, or general anxiety, and there's no clear conflict driving it, Relaxed Bird is the right place to start.

Start with Social Bird if the plucking started after a new bird was introduced, or during ongoing tension with another bird or person.

If both blends seem like a fit, choose the one that describes the problem you most want to solve first.
There's a good chance you'll see improvement in both areas.
Individual results vary.

My bird is fine when I'm home, but screams or seems distressed when I'm not there. Which blend do I order?

This is separation-related stress, and which blend fits depends on how it shows up.

Relaxed Bird is the better fit if your bird screams, paces, plucks, or stops eating while you're away, then settles back down once you return.

Look at Social Bird instead if the distress shows up as aggression, biting, or lunging, either right before you leave or right after you walk back in.

If both blends seem like a fit, choose the one that describes the problem you most want to solve first.
There's a good chance you'll see improvement in both areas.
Individual results vary.

Are flower essences backed by vets?

Flower essences are generally considered safe and are often used alongside veterinary care.

VCA Animal Hospitals describes them this way: "Flower essences are extracts from various types of flowers that are used to balance emotions. In animals, they are used to relieve emotional stress and anxiety."

VCA also confirms flower essences are used in cats, dogs, horses, fish, birds, and other animals.

While not a prescription, they can complement the training or medical support your vet recommends. Always let your vet know what you are using.

American Holistic Vet Med Association (https://www.ahvma.org/what-is-holistic-veterinary-medicine/)

Are flower essences the same as essential oils or aromatherapy?

No.

This distinction matters especially for birds.

Birds have a highly sensitive respiratory system, and essential oils, scented sprays, and aromatic compounds can be genuinely dangerous for them.

Flower essences do not contain plant oils, scent compounds, or aromatic molecules whatsoever.

Completely odorless, oil-free, and entirely unrelated to essential oils, diffusers, or aromatherapy products of any kind.

How quickly will I see results?

Many bird parents report noticeable changes within days.

Individual results vary.

Birds with longstanding emotional patterns may take a little longer.

If you're not seeing a shift at 3 weeks, schedule your complimentary check-in if you need support.

Can I use Relaxed Bird and Social Bird alongside my vet's treatments?

Yes.

Flower essences do not contain oils, herbs, or active compounds that interact with medications or supplements.

Safe to use alongside any veterinary treatment.
As with any new product, check with your vet if you have specific concerns about your bird.

How do I use Relaxed Bird and Social Bird with my bird(s)?

Every bird is different, so there's more than one way to introduce the blend:

• Add the blend to your bird's water dish

• Mist your bird's food

• Mist the cage, avoiding the perches and your bird directly
• Mist the room your bird's cage is in

• Apply to your hands before handling or interacting with your bird
• Mist the cage cover used at night

Calm Animal Solutions blends are made following Good Manufacturing Practices and are safe for your whole family, including other pets in the home.

I've tried Bach Rescue Remedy. How is this different?

Bach Rescue Remedy is one of the most recognized flower essence blends in the world, and it has introduced many bird parents to what flower essences can do. It contains five essences formulated for general stress and acute upset. For many situations, it helps.

These blends go further.
Catherine works from the full Bach flower essence library and beyond, selecting essences specifically for your bird's emotional pattern, whether that's stress-related or social and flock-related tension, rather than one general formula for everything.

If Rescue Remedy has helped but hasn't fully resolved what you're seeing,

Relaxed Bird or Social Bird is the natural next step.
